Something technology related, eh? Hmmm... That's easy but what's it got to do with what I had for lunch? Well, it's an egregious breach of protocol but here goes anyway:

I've been very fortunate lately to be involved in a different sort of learn and play for The Library. I've been working with a small group of people who are working on all things necessary to make it possible for the Library to provide instant messaging (IM) for its customers. IM will be one more exciting way that customers will soon be able to communicate with us. Our small group has temporarily divided into two smaller groups. One subgroup is exploring how best to apply our new technology to help customers i.e. P&P, training methods, best practices, etc. Macrina Gilliam and I comprise the second subgroup. We've been having a blast learning about and testing various technologies to find the very best solution for The Library's needs. It has been very exciting to explore these technologies and to get them working. In fact you can see some of our work on both our blogs. Here's a link to Macrina's blog: http://www.skydivinglibrarian.blogspot.com/ The various "Ask Here" boxes that you see come and go on our blogs are different technologies we've been testing. As we continue testing, feel free to start a chat with us when you see "available" status on either of our blogs. It would be a good chance to see and play with what will be coming soon to a Library near you! Be forewarned though that it could be Macrina, me, or even someone else who may be chatting with you as those boxes all communicate with our "test library." It is just a matter of who is working the "test library" at any given time.

Okay, lunch is only one hour away. Hmmm... I wonder what I'll have...
